Lidly vs MemoriesExport

MemoriesExport and Lidly are built for different jobs. MemoriesExport fixes your Snapchat Memories files (correct dates, GPS map pins, captions and stickers burned in) so they import properly into Apple Photos or Google Photos, and you can run it online, in your browser or as a Mac or Windows app. Lidly is an iPhone app for reading your export: saved chat snaps in conversations by person, with who sent each one, and your Memories by date. For a library of fixed Memories files on a computer, MemoriesExport is designed for exactly that. For looking back through conversations on your phone, Lidly is.

We make Lidly. Everything below about MemoriesExport is what its website said when we checked in October 2026. We haven't tested it.

What MemoriesExport says it does

As of October 2026, MemoriesExport's site says:

  • It fixes dates and GPS from your export, and burns captions and stickers into photos. The Mac app also burns them into videos.
  • It offers three ways to run: an online version where you upload your export; an in-browser version where the processing happens on your computer and nothing is uploaded; and a Mac app (Apple Silicon, macOS 12 or later), with a Windows version also available, that runs entirely on your computer.
  • For the online version, uploads are encrypted in transit and at rest, stored under your signed-in account, processed automatically, and deleted one hour after your download is ready.
  • It never asks for your Snapchat password and never logs in for you.
  • It puts videos on the map in Apple Photos.
  • The first 100 Memories are free, then a one-time purchase covers the web and desktop versions.

Its homepage doesn't mention chat history or sender names.

Where MemoriesExport is the better choice

  • You want Memories in Google Photos, or on a computer. MemoriesExport produces fixed files for either library; Lidly saves only to your iPhone's camera roll.
  • You want captions burned into videos. The Mac app says it does this. Lidly keeps video captions in the app only.
  • You want to use any device, including Android. Its online version says it works on any phone, tablet or computer.

Where Lidly is the better choice

  • You want your conversations, not just Memories. Lidly puts saved chat snaps and messages back in their conversations, in order, with who sent each one. Viewing chats by person shows how.
  • You want it on your iPhone, with nothing uploaded and no sign-in. Lidly has no account and makes no network requests. It reads the export in place, without unzipping, even a large multi-part one.
  • You want to browse and revisit. Your Memories appear by date, and Throwbacks bring back snaps from this week in past years with on-device notifications.

Using both

They work from the same Snapchat export and neither changes your original ZIP. Some people will want a fixed Memories library on a computer and their conversations on their phone; the two don't conflict.
